Mr. Newhall joined Domain in August 2009. Present board observer positions include Applied Proteomics, Astute Medical, BioNano Genomics, CoLucid Pharmaceuticals and Otonomy. Mr. Newhall also serves as Director of Business Development for CoLucid Pharmaceuticals and formerly served in the same position for Calixa Therapeutics, a Domain portfolio company, which was acquired by Cubist Pharmaceuticals in December 2009. At Domain, Mr. Newhall assists with the review of new investment opportunities and helps current portfolio companies with financing strategies and business development processes. Prior to Domain, Mr. Newhall worked for two Domain portfolio companies: Esprit Pharma and ESP Pharma. From 2005 - 2007, he worked in the corporate development group and assisted with multiple product acquisitions and Esprit Pharma’s subsequent sale to Allergan, Inc. for $370M. From 2003 - 2005, he worked at ESP Pharma. Involved in the company's Leadership Program, Mr. Newhall worked in a variety of positions including sales, finance, and marketing. During this time, he worked on a product acquisition and a pharmaceutical launch before the company was sold to Protein Design Labs for $514M. From 2001-2003, he worked at Thomas Weisel Partners as an analyst in the Semiconductor and Healthcare teams. Currently, Mr. Newhall is a member of the Young Leaders Council of the Lance Armstrong Foundation and a co-founder of the UVa Venture Summit.
